For example, we installed a utility software designed to track consignment inventory for a retail client. By utilizing this software in conjunction with QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions and QuickBooks Point of Sale, consignment inventory is segregated from owned inventory and is not included in the Inventory account on the balance sheet. Prior to use of this consignment software, our client had to manually account for consignments and manually make adjusting journal entries to avoid overstating Inventory on the balance sheet.
